Okirattár

35. Therapia, 1851 szeptember 17. Stratford Canning angol követ jelenti Palmerstónnak, hogy 40 magyar emigráns, valamint számos magyar és lengyel renegát esedezik Törökországból való elszállíttatásáért. Eredeti. Dispatch. No. 279. Turkey. Volume 858. PRO. London. Mr. Kossuth when embarking for America wrote to recommend about forty of his countrymen to my attention. The individuals in question were not among the refugees at Kutahia. They were anxious to follow Mr. Kossuth and have no present means of doing so. He expressed a wish that I would give them a free passage to England under an expectation that they would be sent on to America at the expense of some committee in London. Not feeling myself at liberty to comply with this request I can only bring the case to your Lordship's notice, after having brought it under that of Aali Pasha with an expression of interest. I have also received an application from several Hungarian and Polish Renegades in the Turkish military service at Aleppo. They have applied to the French Minister as well as to me. They want permission and means to leave the country. I cannot pretend to take any interest in their case. But I have promised to mention it to your Lordship and also to the Porte. I beg to be favoured with your Lordship's instructions respecting both these remnants of the emigration of 1849. I conceive that the steam vessel which I was directed to place at the disposal of the Porte referred exclusively to the Refugees at Kutahia. The Porte, I believe is hot disposed to make any further sacrifice. Monsieur and Mme Batthyány were conveyed to the French steam packet, in the steam vessel attached to the French Legation. I have the honour [stb.]. [Alul:] Re [ceive] d 2nd October. By Jupiter.
