divisions, brigades, regiments, Headquarters of military districts, bodies of supervision, etc.). Apart from operational moves on the front, the collection is useful for war conditions, economic and social life in Hungary and the anti-militarist movements. The collection of the military material of the bourgeois-democratic revolution (Nov. 1918 — March 1919) contains the archival group of the War Ministry, with specious data for the dissolution or disarmament of the army of the Monarchy, respectively, and for the establishment of a new army, organized by the bourgeois government, valuable also for the history of the working class movement. Of the material of the various military organisations and troops mainly the reports of the military and popular movements and of police measures deserve mention. The military records of the Hungarian Councils' Republic (March 1919 — August 1919) make up a collection valuable both from the standpoint of history and the working class movement; they illustrate the defensive war of the young proletarian state, the heroic struggle of the Red Army, recruited from the workers, the efforts of the country against the forces of intervention and the inner reaction. Both from the period between the two World Wars and from World War II there is very scarce archival material from the troops. This enhances the value of the records of the Second Hungarian Army (1940-1943). Besides there are fragments from the material of various military institutions, schools, tribunals, etc. The partisan collection presents the documents of the antifascist armed resistance during World War II: original records and recollections. Both the various groups and units active in Hungary, and the Hungarian partisans fighting in other countries are represented. The collection is completed regularly. In the material of the Hungarian People's Army one finds the records of
