A MASTERPIECE OF ROMANIAN FOLK ART The Wood Church in Iclänzel-Mädäräseni

The church dates from the end of the 17th century or perhaps the beginning of the following one; in time it underwent several renovation and relocation changes. It was brought from the valley of Iclänzel in 1888 and on that occasion its west wall was extended with a porch and a bell-tower. The southern entrance, marked by a rope-like frame, was closed and a new acces was opened on the western side. At the same time the windows were enlarged, however, perserving the circular hole of the apse, as an invocation of the beginnings.
