(Dej) THE FEAST OF THE ОХ („В О UL FERECAT") (Summary) The author brings for the frost time the entire information about this Romanian agrarian custom of great interest. After presenting the few issued materials or kept in archives, the author gives an ample description of the custom on the basis of the unpublished information gathered from his correspondents, revealing both the invariable and the variable elements of its structure. He analyses different folk names of the custom and its significance and puts forward the hypothesis of the pre- Christian origin of the ceremony of „embellishing the ox" dedicated to a deity of wealth. Finally, the author presents the spreading area of the custom of embellishing the ox.
