Lorant Fukk from Hungary, who has been studying at the Princeton Theological Seminary since this September. As a part of our preparation for the celebration, we had our annual trip of the Women’s Guild that - thanks to the good management of Susan Prundl - was a time of pleasure. In December we started an adult bible study class exploring the Gospel according to John. We held the class on every Friday at 7 PM - the same time when the rehearsals of the Children’s Christmas Celebration was scheduled. This created an opportunity to the children’s parents to attend the class. We saw the Bethlehem Play of our children on December 20. This time several church member took part of the liturgy with scripture readings and prayers. After the worship service we went over to the church’s Bethlen Hall where all the good food was prepared for us by our Men’s Club. Finally even Santa arrived, however, his wind blown beard wanted to serve the gravitation. At the Christmas Eve Candlelight our church was filled up - at least in comparison of the average weekly attendance. Our choir, with the leadership of our organist Mrs. Leslie Egry, enriched our celebration with Christmas Carols. On Christmas Day we had the Sacrament of Holy Communion - administered in both languages. On New Year’s Day our bishop, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi - who served as a pastor in this congregation for a long time - proclaimed the Word of God. After the service we had a fellowship with refreshments in the Parsonage where we shared the joy of the New Year. On the first Sunday of 1993, our sister, Ms. Priscilla Hunyady played the organ. We thank again her help. We have resumed the Friday night bible studies in January - it is a pleasure to see the attendance lately. Our organization elected its officers for 1993: Lorantffy Women’s Guild: President: Vice President: Secretary-Treasurer: Chaplain: Men’s Club: President: Vice President: Treasurer: Chaplain: The installation of our new January 25. Our Carteretian reformed church’s life reached a very important stage for we celebrate the 90th anniversary of our congregation this year. Listening to God’s word, and the administration of the Sacraments, God formed us into the Hungarian Reformed Church of Carteret -well known and appreciated by our community. The preparation for this celebration has defined our activities during the last few years. The most visible sign of those activities are the church buildings. We renovated, repainted and modernized our place of worship as well as our Sunday School, and our Bethlen Hall. Our faithful members have been supportive with donations and work. All that I have mentioned did not weaken our mission activities - Glory to God. As a result I could deliver some donations to the refugees from the former Yugoslavia when I visited Hungary at the end of January. As a result, I am able to bring the thanks of the Rev. Janos Kettős, the traveling administrator of that mission. Prior to my trip, we installed the 1993 officers of our organizations whose names I mentioned previously. My message was to call the attention of these officers as well as all of our members to the increased responsibilities in this very special time of our history. During the time of my vacation, The Rev. Levente Molnár - pastor from Transylvania and at the present, a student in Princeton on a scholarship - proclaimed the Word of God amongst us. In such a way we could support the needy Hungarian students who face financial shortages nowadays. When The Rt. Rev. László Tokes, Bishop of the Királyhágó Melleki Church District, visited the USA, our church was represented by our delegation at the ecumenical worship service in New York. This time we presented a $280.00 donation through the Nagyvarad College Fund to support Mrs. Pearl Hatten Mrs. Gloria Katko Ms. Suzanne Prundl Mrs. Helen Sheridan Mr. Daniel Nagy Mr. Joseph Timari Mr. Steven Gergely Rev.
