On January 30th 1983, we held our Annual Congregational meeting where Mr. Balint Balogh chief elder, Mr. Steve Toth treasurer, Mr. Steve Turoczy recording secretary, Mr. Frank Athis controller and the minister presented the yearly reports to the congregation. Income for 1982: $30,424.09. Expenses for 1982: $30,102.20. Statistics: 1,169 were present at the 59 English and 58 Hungarian services. 293 communicants and 21 sick communicants participated in the Sacraments of the Lord’s Suppers. We had 12 Consistory meetings and 2 Congregational meet­ings. We had one baptism, no confirmation. We had 2 weddings and 4 funerals. Family visitations 157, hospital visitations 194. The following ministers served in our congre­gation during the year 1982: Rev. Attila Kocsis, Rev. Dr. István Mészáros, Rev. Ferenc Dusicza all three from Hungary studying in Princeton, N.J. Furthermore Rev. Paul Kovács, Rev. Bela Olah and Rev. Paul Ferenczy. On February 8th we will have consistory meeting and visitation of our dean the Very Rev. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi. On February 20th is Holy Communion for Lent. The Holy elements will be donated by our chief elder Mr. Balint Balogh and his wife. CARTERET, NJ. The new church year started busy as usual. Members of the Confirmation class assisted in the lighting of Advent candles, they also went out Christmas Caroling. On Dec. 19 the Sunday School presented us with and unforgettable Christmas program. The kindergarten angels always capture the imagination of both children and grownups. This year again we had a baby in the manger, Amy E. Kijula. After the service we all went over to the Bethlen Hall, where members of the Mens Club prepared a pancake breakfast for the children, and everybody else had coffee and doughnuts. Vappo, the Christian clown and his family presented us with a funny and interesting Christmas show. Santa also visited us and brought gifts to all children present. Funds for the gifts were provided by the Mens Club and the Lórántffy Womens Guild. On Christmas Eve, the candlelight service is the best attended service of the year, and this year the whole church was filled up, even the balcony. On Christmas Day 102 people attended services, and the Lords table was open to all believing Christians. We were happy to see the church steps in the front and side be finished by Christmas. It cost the Lórántffy Womens Guild $7,550. We thank the hard working women who made this possible. The Church Bulletin Board was also finished, lit up, with a special message on it for Christmas. The Board was donated by Mr/Mrs. Ronald Ruskowski in memory of her grand­mother Erma Wells. May God bless her memory. Thank you. For the first time in many years we organized a New Years Eve Party in the Bethlen Hall where we had a very good time welcoming the New Year. We encourage others to join us next year! After recuperating from the marathon three day, and two day worship services during the holidays, we are getting ready for the Annual Meeting to be held on January 30th. The Annual Report is put together, and thanks for the help of Helen Sheridan, Alice Kovács and Marge De Stefano. Our income in 1982 was $52,900.85 and the expenses $52,627.72. Compared to the inflation­ary times, and that last year we ran into the red, we are doing pretty well. We saved a lot on the energy expenses, with repairs on the heating and cooling system, and on general maintenance. The Womens Guild donated $1,000 and the newly organized Mens Club $2,000. We have cash assets of $43,155.19 carried over to 1983. In 1982 we had 7 children baptized in our Church, and buried 15 people. We had no weddings. Our own John Nemish preached once from our pulpit, and Rev. Imre Bertalan in September when he held a Bethlen Home Sunday service. The average Church attendance on the 57 services was 88 people, 31% of our membership visiting church. We, from the church family wish you a blessed and Happy New Year! McKeesport, pa. There was confirmation in 1982. Since the 1960-s there were less than 6 baptisms in every year. We hope and pray that the ones who were baptized will remain in Christ and the ones who were married will live together. Neveket, stb. a heti híradóban tettünk közzé, s itt is mindenki­nek köszönetét mondunk. Az egyházközségi közgyűlést február egyik va­sárnapján tartjuk meg, e sorok írásakor még nem döntött a presbitérium, hogy mikor. Az évi jelen­tést készítjük, és azoknak, akik kérik, postán szívesen elküldjük. Tagjaink a templomnál átve­hetik. Egyházunk Nőegylete a többi szervezetek között óriás munkát végzett, csak csiga készítés­ből 5 ezer dollárt vettek be, s más rendezvényeik­kel az évi adományuk 25 ezer dollárt tesz ki. Mind a tisztviselőknek, mind a tagoknak és pártolóknak köszönet. Az Ifjú Nőegylet 12,000 dollárral támogatta a múlt évben egyházunkat. This new year of 1983 we pray and hope that our Lord will guide us on to a better path with humbleness, humility and love for our fellow man and our church. This is a most important year in the life of our Church with the realization that we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of our Church. Plans are being formulated to have an evening of celebration with a Dinner-Dance on November 19th. All of the church organizations with the leadership of the newly elected officers will resume their activities, and help with the plans for the 80th anniversary year celebrations. The Annual Congregational Meeting is held on the second Sunday of February and the Church Council recommendations for the following officers were: Chief-Elder — Mr. William Pastor, Vice Presidents — Mr. Andrew Racz Jr. and Mr. Gabriel Silagyi, Secretary — Mr. Michael Eldredge, Treasurer — Mr. John S. Kovács Jr., Assistant Treasurer — Mr. Robert Zambo. We would like to thank our former Chief-Elder Mr. Charles Gabos and our former secretary Mr. Louis Medgyesi for their devoted and excellent work during their term in office, and we look forward to our newly elected church officers to continue in the leadership of our Church. A Covered-Dish Dinner by the Women’s Guild to honor the newly elected officers of all the Church organizations will be held in the Church Center.
