1 12. oldal MAGYAR eGYRAZ Our nearby North Ridgeville First Congregational Church — now celebrating its 160th Anniversary — became vacant, and he Church Council asked me to serve as their interim pastor. This was my third interim pastorate and my first all- English congregation, from June 1 to December 1, 1978, 6 months. This was a new experience for us, not using the Hungarian language, but we enjoyed serving in and with this congregation. After this I had but one month of retirement when the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ of Lorain, Ohio became vacant and the Church Consistory asked me to serve as their interim pastor, which lasted from January 1, 1979 to March 15, 1980, a total of fourteen and a half months. My wife and I were very happy to serve in our Lorain Church, preaching again in Hungarian and English, and sharing the warm friendship of the members of the Congregation. Here we had the full-cycle of the Church Year, including all the holidays. This was the fourth interim pastorate, and I thought that I would finish my ministry where I started in 1935. Again I had only a few months of retirement when the Elyria Lake Avenue Congregational Church asked me to serve as their interim pastor. Here I served from June 1, 1980 to July 31, 1981, 14 months, my second all-English congregation and the 5th interim pastorate. In this church the women were well THE FA THER 'S HA ND While through this changing world below I would not choose my path to go; ‘Tis Father’s hand that leadeth me, Then O how safe His child must be. Sometimes we walk in sunshine bright, Sometimes in darkness of the night; Sometimes the way I cannot see But Father's hand still leadeth me. Why should I mind the way I go? His way is best for me, I know. He is my strength, my truth, my way, He is my comfort, rod, and stay. So on we travel hand in hand, Bound for the heavenly promised land Always through all Eternity, r II praise His name for leading me. Ida L. Cornett I LOOKED I looked upon a farm one day, That once I used to own; The barn had fallen to the ground, The fields were overgrown. The house in which my children grew, Were we had lived for years — I turned to see it broken down, And brushed aside the tears. I looked upon my soul one day, To find it too had grown With thorns and nettles everywhere, The seeds neglect had sown. The years had passed while I had cared For things of lesser worth: The things of Heaven I let go While minding things of Earth. T. B. organized and very active, but the men were not. With the cooperation of the men of the church, I organized the Churchmen’s Brotherhood with 34 members. St. Peter s (E and R) United Church of Christ, Amherst, Ohio, a congregation of almost a thousand members, originally a German Evangelical Church became vacant. April 11, 1982. The Church Council asked me to serve and started my interim pastoral ministry at St. Peter’s Church April 12, 1982, conducting two Worship Services every Sunday. My wife Ida attended all the Worship Services with me, and all the meetings of the organizations and special events of the year. We can both say, in all sincerity, that we enjoyed our interim pastoral services in all the churches. We are grateful to God for these “retirement” opportunities of Christian service we were able to share in preaching the Word of God, the Gospel of Christ, and, yes, even our Magyar Reformed Christian Faith with these fine Christian Congregations! We are now retired and truly enjoy our retirement after more than 47 years of pastoral services in the Christian Ministry. “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS ALLEN PARK, MICH.
