MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO During the month of June we col­lected $1,100.00 to help our brethren in Transylvania to rebuild the earth­quake stricken Hungarian reformed churches. Weddings: During the month of June William Brian Futch and Susanna Eli­zabeth Pálinkás were married in our church. Witnesses were Robert Griner and Edith Pálinkás. Walter Priscis and Helen Pavlovich were married too during the month of June. Witnesses were Eva Gallo and András Pusztai. On July 9th Joseph David DeMarco and Rebecca Ann Miklkos were mar­ried in our church. Witnesses were Susan Hoffman and Brent DeMarco. May God bless richly the newly weds with His heavenly and earthly bless­ings. On June 19th, we baptized in our church Emily Anne Marhevsky, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Marhevsky, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Race and Mrs. Marhevsky. Godparents are Fred and Sharon Rogers. May God bless the newly baptized, her parents, grand­parents and godparents. Funeral: On July 1st we buried Mrs. Priscilla Antal, 72, in Higland Park Cemetery in Cleveland. We cordially invite our church members, friends and the mem­bers of our sister churches to be present with us on this joyous occasion. ALLEN PARK, MICH. The following young people were con­firmed on Ascension Day: Joseph and Margaret Csereklye, Steven, Susan and Thomas Farkas, Judith Galgocy, Linda Marek, Leigh Mathia, Lisa Milligen and David Nagy. May God help them to keep their oath of church member­ship. The dedication and mortgage burn­ing of the new parsonage was held May 22nd, with over 350 people at­tending the banquet. A more detailed report of the ceremony is published elsewhere in this paper. The annual church picnic sponsored by the Men’s Guild and Golden Circle Club will be held in Champaigne Park on July 10th. All members of the con­gregation are invited to attend. The two choirs held a mystery trip outing on June 5th. They will resume iehearsals in September. There will be no Sunday School dur­ing the summer months. All children are requested to come to church with their parents faithfully every Sunday. During the summer months of vaca­tion, church services will continue on regular schedule: 9:45 A.M. English, 11 A.M. Hungarian. Come to church if you are home, if you have visitors or guests bring them to our divine worship services, and if you are away on vaca­tion, attend church wherever you are! The confirmation of five young peo­ple took place on May 22; they took part in holy communion for the first time on Pentecost Sunday. They were: Lisa Ann Janvari, Leslie Christine Ki­­jula, Lisa Ann Lukach, Norman Leslie Palmer and Guy Sean Sendelsky. n Hungarian language worship services will begin at 10:45 during the Summer months. The Lorantffy Society and the Youth Fellowship are planning several picnics in July. The Junior Women’s Guild will have a Chinese Auction on Sunday, September 11. The Lorantffy ladies will participate in the ethnic festival at the Carteret Park on Sun­day, September 18. Our congregation is participating in the church-wide drive for funds to aid the restoration of Reformed church buildings in Transylvania heavily dam­aged by the earthquake last March. Baptisms: Angela Marie, daughter of Victor Anthony Colicchio and his wife, the former Leslie Ann Katko; Julie Ellen, daughter of Robert Stephen Ba­log and his wife, the former Clara Mag­dolna Kántor; godparents; Béla Kán­tor, Jr. and Mrs. Ilonka Delbács; Jamie, daughter of Robert Paul Szabó and his wife, the former Judith Jacobs; god­parents: Richard A. Szabó and Mau­reen Ansloch. Together with the Szabó baby we also baptized her older bro­ther and sister, Michael James Douglas and Theresa Douglas. Funerals: Mrs. Ann Billy, 63, on May 4; John Sokolowski, 89, on May 31. Pastor Dr. Harsanyi preached and officiated at the investiture of the new Commander of the Hungarian Associa­tion of the Order of St. John in Munich, Germany, as the Association’s chaplain. He and his wife made also a brief trip to Hungary. During his absence the Carteret pulpit was supplied by the Rev. Attila Komlós. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: On June 12th we received Jaime Lynn, the daughter of Nicholas Fuller and his wife, the former Anita (Cookie) Tornai into our congregation by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cross, Jr. Funerals: Irma Rekasi, a faithful member of our congregation was laid to rest on May 19th, in our cemetery. Mrs. Margaret Koester, our faithful member of a lifetime, and past treasurer of the Women’s Club was laid to rest in our cemetery on June 29th. In the absence of the pastor the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy officiated. Women’s Club: new officers were elected at the June 15th meeting (the last one of this season.)
