In this report we would like to list our activity which occured in the month of May and June, since the combined issue of the last month did not contain most of our activities. On May 1, we observed the Sacrament of Holy Communion when our assistant was the Rev. Nicholas Nyári. On the afternoon of the same day together with the member of our sister churches Women’s Clubs we participated in the Church Women United Conference, held this year by our sister church in Trenton. Lectures in both languages were given in Hungarian by our Pastor and in English by his wife Susan. The theme of the Conference was: “What it means to be born again.” On the second Sunday celebrating Mother’s Day we honored the mothers of our congregation, the Women’s Guild also presented them with flowers. Ascension Thursday our Confirmation was held during a combined worship service. Seven of our young girls, Margaret Berki, Kathleen Blaho, Eva Dobos, Lisa Hanchick, Amy Hegedűs, Kathleen Jenkins and Kimberly Reese made an .open confession of their faith. We hope that God will keep them faithful to their oath. On the last Sunday of the month we celebrated Pentecost. This was also the time when our newly confirmed children have received Holy Communion. On Saturday before Pentecost a very sensitive fellowship has gathered together — organized by the Women’s Guild a farewell Dinner was held to our Pastor’s mother, who was visiting in the U.S. On the first Sunday of June we commemorated Memorial Day, in giving honor in our Calvary Cemetery to all those of our members who gave their lives for this country. On June 12, our Embroidery Class together with our church members participated in the International Festival held at the Middlesex County College. We were very proud to learn, that we are not lower than other nationalities. We are anxiously looking forward now to our upcoming Vacation Bible School to be started on June 27, Monday, lasting 10 days. We hope that our school will be successful, and we will receive enough help from our members. Vital Statistics. Baptism: Valerie Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Király; Kenneth William, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Csipo; Jamie Lynn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Karoly. Funerals: Mr. Eugene Farkas, Mr. Theodore Füzesi, Mr. Ernest Balint, Mr. Louis J. Vig, Mrs. Elizabeth Szabad, Mr. Steven Orosz. May God bless their memories and give them rest in His eternal home until the great day of the resurrection. Wedding: on May 7, Richard J. Simon and Carla J. Toth. The Almighty God bless their marriage and lead them in peace and happiness. ROEBLING, N. J. On May 1st, some women from our church joined with others throughout the state for the annual meeting of the Church Women United. The following Sunday, Mother’s Day, was observed with a program offered by the children of the church school. Following the readings and poems, gifts made by the children during Sunday School were presented to the mothers. In addition all members of the congregation were given a lovely carnation from the Church Council. The annual roast beef dinner prepared and served by the men of the church followed the church service. Nearly 100 guests were in attendance and several mothers won gifts donated by the Women’s Guild- Lorantffy Noegylet. Several other lucky people won plants as part of the festivities. Ascension Day was commemorated by an informal evening service on Thursday, May 19th. Following the regular church service on Sunday, May 22nd, a busload of members of the congregation as well as friends in the community, joined together for an outing to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. A side trip to a mushroom farm was included as well as dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was a perfect day for a wonderfully organized trip. We thank the Women’s Guild-Lorantffy Noegylet, headed by Helen Nagy, for making the day possible. On Saturday, May 28 the Preparatory Service was highlighted by an innovation in the liturgy written by Rev. Patch. The two confirmands, James Robb and Christian Varga, participated in the service by cutting the bread and pouring the wine into two chalices from which their families were to partake in the following day. As they were preparing the elements, the boys explained (1) bow we must prepare for Communion through self-examination and repentance; (2) the symbolic meaning of the elements; and (3) the sumbolic meaning of preparing the elements for their own family as well as that of the other confirmand’s family. The following Sunday, May 29th, was a joyous occasion in the celebration of Pentecost. Christian Varga and James Robb were confirmed and partook in Communion with their families for the first time. Allan Birkholz, Chief-Elder, presented both boys with Bibles from the Church Council. Georgiana Harkel presented gifts to the boys from the Sunday School. During the service the scripture readings were done by last year’s confirmands, Kim Robb and Frank Cordero. On Saturday, May 28th another successful kolbász sale was held. Sincere condolences are extended to the family of Mr. Andrew Papp who passed away suddenly on May 4th. A service and interment took place in Trenton on May 7th. On Friday, June 3, the men from the bowling league from our church joined with others for their year-end dinner which was held at the American Legion Hall in Roebling.
