MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 Scribbled in the Editor’s Notebook . . . There were the two cartoon characters arguing on the TV-screen. The one loved pizza but couldn’t cat it on account of his overacidity. The other promptly suggested the popular antacid tablets adding very under standingly that he understood his partner s frustration. After all, “Man shall not live by bread alone”, he said. Well, I do remember the passage in Matthew’s Gospel Jesus saying this. However, I don’t remember Jesus making any reference to pizzas. I wonder: should we hold such a commercial as being in bad taste? Or, shall we say it has become a proverb detached from its original meaning? I prefer it in its original context and suggest the antacid maker’s advertising genius think up a less irreverent line. A. H.
