MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 SO THE CONFERENCE IS OVER . . . 1 would, first of all, like to express my thanks to all our friends from Akron, Carteret, Detroit Duquesne, McKeesport, New Brunswick, Passaic, Roebling, Staten Island, Trenton, and Youngstown for coming and helping to make Perth Amboy’s hosting of the 27th Annual BYF National Conference such a tremendous success. We planned it but YOU made it. Many thanks. I think we all can agree that our speakers were tremendous. Rev. Krahe’s talk on the Scriptures was very enlightening. Speaking of Scripture as basic in relationship to the content of the Christian faith, he gave us the three alternatives of personal opinion, ecclesiastical authority, and the Bible including acceptance of Biblical authority. In regard to the acceptance of Scripture through evidence, Rev. Krahe presented four ways: Inspiration, Historicity, Genuineness, and Reliability. Mr. Gilfoy’s talk on Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ stirred the audience. This was very evident as many of us answered his call to rededicate our lives to Christ right there in the assembly hall. To read our Bibles everyday, to tell others about Christ, and to witness with prayer was his battlecry. Mrs. Varga’s talk on Service stirred us, too, as she hit upon the common things of life we use to worship the Lord. Mrs. Varga mentioned musical instruments as one way, and she continued bringing up our other ways. As far as the discussion groups were concerned, if all the discussion groups were like the one I was in, where we had a well-prepared leader and some lively talks, then I think every one of us benefited. The vesper services and graces before meals were all handled very well. Saturday evening was beautiful. Even though it was raining, the vesper service with our candles was very meaningful. Solemnity was in all of us. We all felt good inside. Getting to the lighter side of the conference, I think that we all can agree that we really did have a blast. Saturday night will never be forgotten by the occupants of cabins 17 and 18. The campfire skits were all tremendous. I must congratulate every club who presented one. Hilarious! And that dance. Wasn’t it absolutely fantabulous? Oh, so fine! The band was absolutely great. It was the “in” thing. And when they played the “Sloopy” I couldn’t believe that all of us were dancing it. It was so great! The “Boston Monkey” has now found its way to Akron. Yeah! And so we danced and danced and danced and danced. And can we leave out Monday? Why of course not. That morning was one of white splendor!?! How about it Duquesne? And cabin 4? A word to the advisors and chaperones who were there with us: Many, many thanks. It’s hard to express our gratitude to all of you, so I shall say thanks and we’ll see all of you next year. About future plans: What do you say about us having BYF sweatshirts? I think it’s about time we did have them. If we get going we could have them for our next conference. Send your responses to me, Rodney Matto, 51 First St., Edison (Fords), N. J. 08863. Going on, what would you say to adopting “Sloopy” as the BYF’s dance? My address is above. I guess that about winds up my letter concerning the 27th National Conference. Here’s hoping that Detroit gives us a great conference too. I wish them all the luck in their preparations and believe me, you’ll have fun planning it. Next year’s battlecry: “Go West young people, go West.” I sincerely wish everyone a happy, healthy, and successful coming year. May God bless you and keep you as you traverse in a new year. Until we see each other again in Detroit, bye, bye. Rodney Matto, Perth Amboy 27th B.Y.F. Conference at Camp Speers. POST-CONFERENCE MAIL Mrs. Louis Apáti, Akron, Ohio Congratulations to Mrs. Peter Dudich and the Perth Amboy B.Y.F. Group . . . The memory I will hold dear in my heart forever is the candle light vespers. Linda and Ilona Vargo held the complete group in the palm of their hand. Their voices in the still pitch darkness was1 something to behold. The Theme of the Conference, The Three “S’s” — Scripture, Salvation and Service — was a well chosen one and I feel sure Mrs. Dudich and her group put many an hour in their planning. Thanks again from one who was very privileged to attend. ★ Judith Radvany, Trenton Congratulations to Perth Amboy and Mrs. Dudich on the great job they did in preparing this year’s annual B.Y.F. Conference! It was truly one of the best ones that we have attended, the only fault being that it seemed to end too quickly . . . Although the rain changed some of our outdoor activities to indoor ones, it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm. Our candlelight vesper service on Saturday night seemed to bring us all closer to God and to each other; and our indoor communion service strengthened our faith inside, even though we felt a little damp on the outside. Our skits too, were just as funny and crazy indoors as they could have been outdoors . . . As Monday approached, we looked back on our weekend filled with Christian fellowship, new friends, and shaving cream; and we realized what a great conference it had been. Now it was over and we had to leave; but the thought of seeing everyone again next year in Detroit gave us all something to look forward to.
