Ligonier — 1966 Conferences Joseph Benedek is president, Alaxander Csik is secre­tary of the Presbyter’s Association, Dr. Andrew Harsanyi is president and Dr. Aladar Komjáthy is secretary of the Ministerial Association. Monday afternoon will be devoted to the anniversary celebrations of the Hungarian Reformed Federation (70 years) and of Bethlen Home (45 years). The 22nd Annual Conference of the American Hun­garian Reformed Presbyter’s Association will take place in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier, Pa. beginning at 2 P.M. Sunday, September 4. In addition to the official reports there will be two lectures. The one, in Hungarian, on Sunday afternoon will be presented by the Rev. Dezső Trombitás (Hollywood, California) on “Christian Faith and Modern Man.” Panel discussion participants: Dr. Lajos Boross, New Brunswick, N. J., Stephen Filzessy, Fairfield, Conn., Dr. Imre Némethy, New York, N. Y. The second lecture will follow the communion service on Monday morning, held by the Rev. Imre Bertalan (New Brunswick, N. J.) on “The Second Helvetic Confession. 1566-1966.” Discussion leaders will be Dr. Alexander Havadtőy, Fair­­field,, Conn, and the Rev. Julius Padi, Homestead, Pa. There will also be an election of new officers. The annual conference of ministers begins Tuesday morning, September 6 at 9:30. Lectures will include Prof. Dr. Károly Henkey-Honig, Montreal, Canada (“The Cen­trality of Christ in Roman Catholic Theology”) and Dr. Blaise Levay, Secretary of the American Bible Society. There will be two panel discussions. The first will be on “The Outlook of the Ecumenical Dialogue for Hungarian Reformed People in America” introduced by Dr. Andrew Harsanyi, the second will deal with “The Funeral,” in­troduced by Dr. John Bütösi with sub-themes presented by the Rev. Stephen Kovács, the Rev. Nicholas Szüle and the Rev. Aaron Elek. Morning devotions will be led by the Rev. Ferenc Endrey and the Rev. Ferenc Nagy. BENJAMIN MORAES, a pastor in the Presbyterian Church of Brazil and a former Vice-President of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, has been named Secretary of Education in the State of Guanabara, Brazil, Dr. Moraes has held numerous high offices in the Pres­byterian Church of Brazil, including the presidency of the Church’s Supreme Council from 1950-1954. The churchman is also a well known professor of criminal law. ARCHBISHOP JUHANON MAR THOMA, metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church has proposed that Christian churches be renamed “Communions” in the interests of Christian unity. “Let us in future call our churches as Mar Thoma Communion. Anglican Communion, Orthodox Communion, Roman Catholic Communion.” FRENCH COMMUNIST LEADER professor Roger Ga­­raundy speaking at a conference on international affairs organized by the University of Toronto, said he was con­vinced “the dialogue between Communists and Christians is essential for the survival of humanity” and the Com­munists must reassess their view of the Church as an obstacle to progress. The mortgage-burning ceremony will be on November 13th. The new sidewalk around the church has been completed, cost: $1,700. Doggie Roast: on July 10th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Waros. Funeral: Mrs. Margaret Buzi, 75, on May 31st. Born in Sarkad, Hungary. The tombstone of the late Mr. Steve Kadar was dedicated on July 3rd. CARTERET Communicants at Pentecost numbered 140. Professor Dr. Tibor Kozma, from Kolozsvár, Transylvania, preached at the Hungarian service; interpreted by Dr. Harsanyi, he also addressed the English speaking congregation.
