MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 In addition to the newly confirmed young people, Mrs. Evelyn Kirkpatrick Anderson and Edward Sadowski joined the Church by profession of faith. Summer schedule of worship services: Hungarian at 8:30, English at 9:30; Summer School begins August 1 for two weeks. Dean Dr. Harsanyi returned from his European trip. For three Sundays in July, he reported on his experiences concerning the life of the Church on the continent. The Lorantfy Society prepared and donated 50 lbs of sausage to the Radio Picnic. The Junior IE omen’s Guild is busy in their preparation for the Annual Chinese Auction to be held Monday, September 12 in Bethlen Hall. DUQUESNE Confirmation was on May 22nd; 8 boys and 2 girls received their first communion on Pentecost Sunday. May 29th, Memorial Sunday, we had memorial service in our cemetery. Wedding: David Halpern and Eileen Palágyi on June 25th. Funerals: On June 1st, John Tokár, on June 16th Mrs. Clara Vörösmarty, the oldest member of our congregation, one month short of 105. Ordination: Lester D. Helmeczi was ordained in our church on June 19th by Bishop Louis Nagy. A record number of church members and guests participated in the service, and dinner following the ordination. Vacation Bible School closed on July 1st. Under the able leadership of Mrs. Ann Shigo the efficient staff has done a marvelous job. Summer schedule: Hungarian services at 9 A.M., English at 10 A.M. Harvest-Home communion will be observed on August 7th. McKeesport At the ordination of the Rev. Lester D. Helmeczi in Duquesne, our church was represented by 23 members. At the installation of the Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Akron, 3 persons represented our church. The confirmation class has already begun; there will be instruction every Saturday until Pentecost, 1967. There are 21 pupils in the class. 1966 High School graduates from our church: Bill Bryan, Paul Michael Jordanhazy, Daniel Caiarelli, Donald Garcia, Janice Kerti, Jolán Nagy, Steven Nagy, Bruce Pogyor, Diana Rausch. This year’s College graduates: Sandra Banes, Bill 1966 Confirmation Class, Passaic, N. J. with Pastor Dr. Aladár Komjáthy, Assistant Pastor Rev. Szabolcs Nagy and Miss Emma Sebők, teacher. Brindza, Charles Fazekas, Anna Marie Nagy, Carl Zugeber. Vacation Bible School is finished. Highest attendance was 67. Teachers were Mrs. Sándor Nagy (also organist), Mrs. Mary Brindza, Miss Mary Kay Starry, Miss Debby Jordanhazy, Mrs. Helen Jordanhazy, Alex Mészár, Mrs. Helen Fustos, Mrs. Mary Fedor, Allen Jordanhazy, Dennis Demsak, Mrs. Audrey Connelle, Louis Nagy, Jr. The Sunday School had a successful picnic, and the Women’s Guild had a dance in the Magyar Ház. Sunday School will be held regularly during the summer. Communion for new bread will be administered on August 7th. Members of the Ladies’ Aid will collect donations for the bazaar. PASSAIC “Lift Thy Head O Zion,” a booklet containing the time honored liturgical prayers of the Hungarian Reformed faith in English language was published by our Church and is made available to all our brethren. It was published as the first part in a series entitled “Hungarian Reformed Tradition.” We have sent one copy to every Hungarian Reformed minister in this country regardless of denominational affiliation. Vacation Bible School will be held between August 15 and 28, every morning from 9 till noon in Calvin Hall. Holy Communion Services for New Bread will be held on August 21, both at the 9:00 A.M. English and the 10:00 A.M. Hungarian service. PERTH AMBOY Our Christian Youth Fellowship will hold meetings every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 P.M. during the summer months in preparation for the forthcoming National Youth Conference. The program is ready and will be mailed to our sister churches and those who ask for it. The Church Council purchased a new and large lawn-mower for our cemetery; road repairs will also be done during the summer. Baptismals: John Thomas Gerecs, son of Mr. and Mrs. László Gerecs; Russel Patrick Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dunn; Tracy Lynn Lipnick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lipnick. Weddings: Joyce Bány ácski and Stephen Angyal, Jr. on June 11th; Joseph Sárközy and Csilla Nagyhetényi on June 11th; Iréné Orosz and John Gerecs on July 23rd. Burials: Stephen Abaházi on April 14th, John Kosztyu on May 4th; Walter Wilczek on May 15th. New members received: Robert and Richard Rezesh by profession of faith. During the month of August the Rev. August Molnár, director of the Hungarian Institute in New Brunswick, will be the guest minister while the pastor will be on vacation. ROEBLING Worship Services during the summer months: English at 8:30 a.m., Hungarian at 9:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday School until September. Orphanage Sunday was observed on June 19. Our guest preacher at both services was the Rev. Alexander Daróczy. We are grateful to him for his wonderful sermons. Our church sent $115, the children of our Sunday School $10 to help Bethlen Home. Vacation Bible School was held from June 20 to July 1. Thirty children studied the Bible in four classes. On closing day 16 children received achievement certificates, 14 of them “with honor.” Under the leadership of Chief Elder Steven Bajzath some of our men should be commended for their manifold
