DETROIT The Annual Congregational Meeting was held on February 5th, at which time Pastor Tibor Toth, chief elder Charles Kiss, the president of the English Congregation Bill Antal, secretary Alex Koroknay, treasurer Zoltán Ambrus, chief auditor John Jakcsy made their annual report to the congregation on the state of the church, the accomplishments and achievements of the past year. 1965 was a historical year in the life of our church. On May 30th we dedicated our new $ 600,000 church, school, fellowship hall and administration offices, which to unbiased observers is one of the most beautiful and the most modernly equipped Hungarian Reformed Churches in the world. The momentum of our congregational activities picked up in the new building, our membership has increased with a little over 100 families, the membership of our Sunday School and all our other organizations also show a marked increase in membership. Church members are also contributing financially much more than they were accustomed to do in the past. Our annual income was $ 105,114.77. This amount does not include the balance brought forward from the previous year, neither does it include the loan given us by the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. This amount represents only the income from our own membership during 1965. Last year our congregation paid out a quarter of a million dollars for construction costs, payment on mortgage, furnishings and work of the church. This accomplishment is almost miraculous in the history of Hungarian Reformed Churches throughout the world. We are grateful to God for the manifestation of His abundant blessing and we are grateful to all who had a part in this glorious adventure of building God’s Kingdom here on earth. We are looking forward with prayerful anticipation to the celebration of our 25th Anniversary, which will be held on June 5th of this year.
