TÖRTÉNELEM - Bene János: A nyírbátori járás tűzrendészeti viszonyai az 1920-as évek második felében

János Bene: The Fire Safety Regulations of the Nyírbátor Municipality in the Second Half of the 1920s The author sums up the fire safety regulations of the Nyírbátor municipality, using sources available in the archives. Despite the grave economic conditions after World War I and the Versailles Peace Treaty, the Hungarian National Fire Safety Association made considerable efforts to implement a fire safety law that made it possible to organize fire safety in a more efficient way. In spite of several years of discussions and negotiations, no law was accepted by Parliament, but a Decree of the Home Secretary was issued on the 4 th of May 1925. The Decree came into being on the 8th day after its issue, and it was very important from the aspect of the development of fire safety in Hungary. This Decree complemented, amended and in many respects superseded the obsolete Home Secretary of 1888. Although there was still no full-fledged act on fire safety in the 1920s, the directions of further development, the tasks to be accomplished were clearly identified. The conclusion of the author is that as a result of the committment and determination of the officers and officials of the county and the municipality, fire safety in the municipality and in the county had achieved high standards by the end of the 1920s, and the local means available were sufficient to fight a fire. There was no outstanding fire disaster in the municipality during these years.
