TÖRTÉNELEM - Ulrich Attila: Nemesi és jobbágyi szőlők a tokaji uradalom mezővárosaiban a XVIII-XIX. században
Attila Ulrich: Vineyards of Nobles and Serfs in the Towns of the Domain of Tokay in the 18 th and 19 th Centuries Significant changes took place in the production and trade of wine in Tokay in the 18 th and 19 TH centuries. The changes affected the local and not local ("extraneus") wine producers. Despite the negative processes there were wine growers among the aristocracy and lesser nobility who obtained large grapewine plantations and sold their wines in local inns, and significant quantities of wine were exported as well. The majority of the wine producers, however, were smallholders who had a tiny piece of land only. These small vineyards were unsuited to profitable cultivation, and an increasing number of smallholders abandoned the vineyards. The crisis of wine production was demonstrated even more dramatically by the fact that the rich burghers of the free royal towns of the Highlands also withdrew from grapevine cultivation.
