Terdik Szilveszter H 4326 Máriapócs Báthori utca 40. e-mail: terdik.szilveszter@gmail.com The 18th century reconstruction of the Krasznabéltek and Erdőd churches The market towns of Krasznabéltek and Erdőd got in the possession of count Károlyi’s family in the early 18th century. The Catholic family soon took the medieval churches of the settlements from the Calvinist Hungarian villains and gave them to the freshly settled Catholic Swabians yet in Erdőd the two communities used the old church together for more than 30 years. In the study, the sources of the 18th century reconstruction and drawings from the 19th century are reviewed, which have preserved many already lost medieval details from the churches that were significantly transformed in the second half of the 19th century and in the early 20<h century.
