BENE János Jósa András Múzeum Nyíregyháza LM1401 Pf. 57. e-mail: benej@jam.nyirbone.hu A fifty years old collection The formation of the Collection of Local History in the Jósa András Museum started in 1957. On the first place, old objects of historical value were inventoried, and pieces of the former Nyíregyháza Town Museum taken over in 1950, were also included into the collection. Objects of historical, local value were also taken over from the ethnographic collection. Later the collection grew richer mainly due to pieces related to the history of the town of Nyíregyháza, and on less degree, by materials related to the history of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and its settlements. To-date, the material representing the history of local military, police and fire brigades is a significant part of the collection.
