(2000) Contributions to the flora of the Villány Hills and the adjacent areas (South Hungary), with special regard to weeds Lajos SOMLYAY In the late spring and summer of 2000 the author made floristical research in the Villány Mts and the adjacent areas. As a result new or recently confirmed localities of more than 120 species (mostly weeds, but 20 protected species as well) are presented in this paper. Eleven species [Abutilon theophrasti Medic, Asclepias syriaca L., Asplenium adiantum-nigrum L., Avena sterilis L. ssp. ludoviciana (Durieu) Nym., Cuscuta europaea L., Ecballium elaterium (L.) Rich, f., Galinsoga parviflora Cav., Matricaria discoidea DC, Ranunculus bulbosus L., Sclerochloa dura (L.) P. В., Vicia dumetorum L.] are new for the area under study. Further important data are of those species with only a few known localities in the area [Althaea cannabina L., Amaranthus crispus (Lesp. et Théven.) N. Terrae, A. graecizans L., Apera spica-venti (L.) P. В., Bromus arvensis L., Calepina irregularis (Asso) Thell., Caucalis platycarpos L., Centaurea banatica Roch., Cerasus fruticosa Pall., Chaenorhinum minus (L.) Lange, Chenopodium opulifolium Schrad., Crépis pulchra L., Epilobium tetragonum L., Euphorbia platyphyllos L., Fumana procumbens (Dun.) Gren. et Godr., Heliotropium europaeum L., Hibiscus trionum L., Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad., Legousia speculum-veneris (L.) Chaix, Limodorum abortivum (L.) Sw., Ornithogalum pyramidale L., O. sphaerocarpum Kern., Reseda luteola L., Serratula radiata (W. et К.) M. В., Sonchus asper (L.) Hill, Valerianella coronata (L.) DC]. Some old and/or important records [Aegilops cylindrica Host, Anchusa barrelieri (All.) Vitm., Cephalanthera longifolia (L.) Fritsch, Digitalis ferruginea L., Erodium ciconium (Jusl.) L'Hérit., Iris graminea L., Koeleria majoriflora Borb. var. mecsekensis Újhelyi, Sherardia arvensis L., Vinca herbacea W. et К.] are confirmed. Problems of taxonomic judgement concerning Arum population on the northern slope of Mt Szársomlyó are stressed.
