98 NATURA SOMOGYIENSIS Waterbird monitoring alond the Dráva river beetween Barcs and Szentborbás in 1996-2000 (Aves) LÁSZLÓ FENYŐSI The author of this paper studied the migrating and hibernating waterfowl population along the 22 km-long stretch of River Dráva between Bares and Szentborbás in the years of 1996-2000. During this period of investigation, the 36 field samplings, which was carried out from fall to spring, proved the occurrence of 27 bird species. More than 70% of these samplings showed the occurrence of only the following species: Anas platyrhynchos, Phalacrocorax carbo, Ardea cinerea és Anas crecca. The maximum number of species, found on the spot on one occasion was 18, while the maximum specimen number was 7864. On the surveyed area, the total number of specimens found during the survey was 62.490. The 74,5% of this amount was found on the sections No. 9-10-11. Therefore the stretch of River Dráva between Tótújfalu and Szentborbás (the section between the 127 and 133 rkm) proved to be highly significant. On the surveyed area the Palearctic (16 species) and Holarctic (10 species) species were the most extensive fauna elements.
