130 NATURA SOMOGYIENSIS New data to the small mammal fauna of the upper region Drava GYŐZŐ HORVÁTH - KRISZTINA HAMBURGER - DÁVID SCHÄFFER A detailed research on mammal fauna along the upper region of Drava was started in 2000, and one of its project is monitoring small mammal dispersion based on pellet analyses. Present study evaluates the data received from the pellets collected during the autumn period of 2000. 408 pellets were collected on 14 sample sites and 1975 individuals of small mammals were identified. Among the Insectivora, six shrew species belonging to the family Soricidae were identified, whereas among the rodents (Rodentia) 12 species were differentiated plus one genus-level, the woodmouse {Apodemus spp.) identification was made. Based on the sample, at first the pellets were arranged into five groups according to the five sample-sites along the river and they were analyzed one by one, then they were pooled and sorted into three groups reflecting the three areas: 1. Vízvár area, 2. Berzence area, 3. Gyékényes area. In case of small scale analyses, there was no significant difference among the areas concerning small mammal diversity. The homogenity test among the sample pairs gave difference only with respect to Apodemus spp. and the genus of Clethrionomys. Large scale grouping enabled a comparative analyses of the three separate area-units along the upper region of Drava, among which the most diverse small mammal community was in the Gyékényes area.
