REMSEY JENŐ GYÖRGY (1885-1980) PAINTER, WRITER The 125 t h anniversary of the birth and the 3o' h of the death of György Jenő Remsey - he used the name Jenő Remsey as a painter and György Remsey as a writer - is a great occasion to pay tribute to him by an exhibition and various other programmes in Gödöllő in 2010. Leaving an exceptionally rich oeuvre behind, as a fine artist he painted portraits, frescoes, historical pictures, did etching and even won a sculpture competition. As an applied artist he designed carpets, gobelins and stained glass windows. His literary work is also significant, he wrote poems, drama and plays. In 1977 he was given the freedom of Gödöllő, where he lived from the age of 24 until his death, so as to honour his versatile activity. His life, his art is intertwined with the town's, to what his fame added rank. Jenő Remsey was born on 2 November, 1885 in Nagykőrös. His father, Ferenc Remsey was the head of a telegraph office, his mother was Johanna Olgyai Molnár. Four children were born of this marriage: Gizella, Margit, Jenő and Zoltán.
