I. Tanulmányok - Huszár Zoltán: A Duna, mint nemzetközi vízi út

14 states over a territory of 817 km , making it possible for continental countries to reach the sea. The significance of the river lies in its being an important international waterway which for at least two thousand years has been a natural route in Europe connecting West and East along a NW-SE line, with all its contingent advantages and often drawbacks. However, in the past - and in many respects today - the Danube has divided as much as it has connected.
