In its ranks, the Kuruc movement had members of such illustrious families as those of the Berthóty, Bezerédy, Csáky, Ebeczky, Forgách, Károlyi, Kisfaludy, Orosz, Perényi, Szemere, and Vay clans. In total, out of the sixty individuals having the rank of captain or higher in the Rákóczi Insurrection, eleven cannot be identified regarding ancestry or descent. Most probably, their bloodline has ended. The descendants of eight of the generals are still with us through male lines, while forty-one of the ranking officers have no existing patrilineal descendants, although some of them would still have matrilineal descendants.
