Karlócai Mariann: Hogy jön létre egy játékgyűjtemény a 20. század második felében?

Marianne Karlócai How is a collection of old toys befor med in the second half of 20th century? As a kindergarden teacher I started to be intertested in different toys. At the beginning of my professional carrier in the ’950-s there were hardly any toys available in Hungary. In 1969 I got a chance to see a museum of old toys , the famous Museum of Childhood in Edinborough, and I decided to look for old toys from before WW2 in Hungary as well. In the first exhibition which was organized by me and some other collegues with similar interest mostly borrowed toys were exhibited. However inspire of the modest publicity this exhibitions proved to be extreemly successful inspite of the modest propaganda, we couldn’t find any museum which would have undertaken the job to collect old toys. At this point I decided to start collecting toys for myself. I got the first pieces for free, and many items were found in flemarkets. My collection consists of more than 5000 pieces now. It is not specialized in any field, I collect every kind of toys. Perhaps the most valueable pieces of my collection are the old dolls and enterieurs, but I am proud of many simple toys which were made by parents for their siblings with great love. I would like to find a constant place in a museum for my collection, so that the broad public could enjoy these interesting articrafits wich are also part of our cultural history. 182
