Kulturális antropológia - Simon Krisztián: Megalkotott ünnepek szellemi kulturális örökségi felhasználása. A Bárándi Kenyérfesztivál

112 SIMON KRISZTIÁN and heritage. Customs and cultural heritage elements listed in the study, however, appear to serve entertainment purposes: for example, as a play performed in front of a passive audience, in the framework of cultural events, or as a motivation tool for local residents in competitions, festivals, and entertainment programmes. This process resembles how heritage is created: not necessarily through the conservation and identical preservation of cultural elements, but through their practical implementation and redefinition. Nevertheless, generational collective knowledge does not become part of the heritage; that is, it is not passed on in practice. In spite of this, it is in accordance with the directives laid down in the Convention forthe Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage that the Bread Festival refers to its local heritage as well as the cultural heritage of the Carpathian Basin, and that this type of display of intangible cultural heritage makes people conscious of their roots, which might result in the reappearance of further traditional and heritage elements.
