Balassa Krisztina - Kiss Melinda: A Storno család egykori régészeti gyűjteménye

ARRABONA 2011.49/1. TANULMÁNYOK THE ONE-TIME ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION OF THE STORNO FAMILY The diverse interest of the Storno family of Sopron, which was famous for its restoration, artistic and art collecting activity, also covered archaeology. Three generations of the family (senior and junior Storno Ferenc and Storno Miksa) enlarged their collection through excavations, collection and buying. Storno Gábor the last family member who lived in Hungary, gifted this collection to the Sopron Museum, and after his death most of his bequest was also incorporated by the museum. Unfortunately, due to the damages of the Second World War, the poor storing conditions, the deterioration of the material and the discontinuance of the processing this collection is not complete. Based on different type of sources this paper is trying to reconstruct the condition, content, objects and object groups of the original collection. Beside the introduction of the archaeological collecting activity of the individual family members it also describes the lost or latent objects that are known only from descriptions. Krisztina Balassa - Melinda Kiss
