Summary

Coleoptarans considered faunistic rarity or highly endangered species (Coleoptera) Carabid beetles (Carabidae) -5 speciesDiversicorn beetles (Diversicornia) -4 speciesNocturnal ground beetles (Tenebrionidae) -1 speciesLamellicorn beetles (Lamellicornia) -6 speciesLonghorn beetles (Cerambycidae) -2 speciesChrysomelid beetles (Chrysomelidae) -2 speciesWeevils (Curculionidae) -2 speciesVertebral animals While surveying the fauna of the area, the following reference groups were examined: Fish (Pisces) The European mud-minnow (Umbra krameri) is one of the five highly protected species. It was observed in 1991 by Tamás Antal in the smaller ponds of the turf mines in Átokháza. In 2006 this fish was found in the waters of the Körös-ér. This observation should be confirmed by the Kiskunság National Park also, because the habitats of this fish became so rare during the last two or three decades. So the turf mine ponds should be highly protected because they are the habitats of the European mud-minnow. Amphibians (Amphibia) The fact that the Danube crested newt (Triturus dobrogicus) is widespread in the neighbourhood of Kőrös-ér is good news. Reptiles (Reptilia) Smooth snake (Coronella austriaca) is relatively frequent - this could be another argument for the protection of Kőrös-ér neighbourhood. Birds (Aves) There was no summarizing publication on the avifauna of the future Kőrös-ér Landscape Protection Area. The summary of the publications so far aimed to make up for this. 484
