Idegennyelvű összefoglalók - Historic Buildings in County Borsod-Abaúj Zemplén

Castles, Mansions and Granges In County Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, regarding to art, the group of ecclesiastic buildings (churches, monasteries, campaniles) is the most significant and the biggest in number at the same time, since they amount to more than 40% of the protected historic buildings. These are succeded by the group of mansions, granges which together with the town houses, approach 23% of the total of the historically significant buildings of this county. There are 56 castles and mansions giving 10% of the historically protected buildings of the county, but compared to the more valuable category, it will be obvious that these 27 historic buildings approach 20% of the county's historic buildings, and by comparison to the country's historic castles, then the number of this countys historic castles represents 1 5%. The vast majority of historic castles and mansions are on the old Abaúj region (former Encs district/where 19 can be found), and also in the former Szerencs district in the Zemplén region (1 3 can be found here). Out of the castles the following have national segnificance: the splendid early Baroque castle of Edelény which is the 7th biggest of the country, the castles in Monok, Kéked, and Pacin with Renaissance origin, the Eötvös castle rebuilt in neoclassic style in Sály and also the Károlyi castle in the second biggest park of this country, in Füzérradvány. It is also worth mentioning that on each two settlements in Hegyalja region, 3 valuable castles and mansions are registered, namely: 2 early Baroque and a Baroque castles in Tolcsva and an early Baroque historic mansion and an other one built in the style of the age of Louis XVI of France and a Baroque castle of historic character in Tállya. In the middle of this century the castles lost their original functions and, to create their new functions, took a time. The results of a consequent restoration on the historic buildings can be seen on the fortified castle in Monok, the royal castle in Királd of the Tolcsva region, the Rákóczi house in Bodrogkeresztúr, and also on the castles in Ernőd, Sáta, Sály, Girincs and Abaújkér, and on the Balogh mansion in Tállya. A similar presentation of the 73 historically protected town houses of this county — particularly in Miskolc, Sátoraljaújhely and Sárospatak - has not been possible so far - due to publishing limitations - but those visiting these 3 towns can, without a guide book, see these romantic, early or late eclectic, Baroque or neoclassic houses in their recently restored state, many times emphasized with brighter colours, and their effects on the townscape.
