18. századi agrártörténelem. Válogatásd Wellmann Imre agrár- és társadalomtörténeti tanulmányaiból (Officina Musei 9. Miskolc, 1999)

18th century agricultural history. Selection from Imre Wellman's writings on agricultural and social histort

He was quite a reserved man. „He lived in the world of peasants, landlords, stewards, officers - i. e. in the world of the everyday heroes of resources" - says Ferenc Glatz in his necrology published in the História. And he goes on: „The remodelling of the village border of early modern times, the landlords' farming and management methods, the everyday interrelation between landlord and relevant villaga community, the different denominations applied by regions for the individual farm crops, the mode of growing crops, the habits of inspection tour in the fields - all fascinated his readers. Those who read his works could almost venture to enter the community of peasants of the 18th century because they felt, on the basis of the description by Wellmann, that they would begin to feel their feet among them". In the preface to the volume of his selected works, it was Tamás Csíki who portrayed the career picture of the scientist - a foretaste of which was given above - in such a way that he depicted the system of ideas determining Imre Wellmann's career, his conceptions of history. His studies incorporated in the volume was divided into four section. In the methodology section we included his writing called „New ways of our agricultural history" (1947) and „On issues of methodology of our agricultural history" (1962) Under the title History of Economy you can find the following studies conducted by him: „Utilization of border fields in the north-west edge of the Great Hungarian Plain in the first half of the 18th century" (1967). „Farming systems in Hungary in the 18th century mainly on the basis of the national registration made in 1915" „The introduction of the Tokay Viniculture in Russia" (1946). „Farming and management in the Grassalkovich Manor of Gödöllő with special respect to the conditions prevailing during the period between 1770 and 1815" (1933). Three of his writings were included in the range of topis called social history. „Community order and individual strivings in the life of 18th century villages" (1980). „Peasantry in Pest County and forms of quitrent payment" (1965). „Farming by the landed gentry in the 18th century" (1981). And, finally in the section history of politics and office administration we included three important studies of his: „To the history of the National Assembly of Ónod" (1938). „Status and office titles in government authorities of the early 18th century" (1940-41) and, in German language, „Über Maria Theresias Landwirtschaftspolitik in Ungarn" (1948). In the volume, his selected works are follwed by a recollection given by János Pintér on Imre Wellmann's 16 fruitful years spent at the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture, and it is followed by Tibor Rémiás 's description of his literary remains an library put into the possession of the Herman Ottó Museum of Miskolc, providing a good basis for the continuation of the researches already started in the museum on the history of Hungarian domains. The selected works of the author - who died two years ago - is closed by a list of his own publications.
