The site lies near the edge of the southeast foothills of Abaúj hills, which starts above the flood area on the right side of the River Hernád (Fig. 1), west from the village, which is called "Ortás földek" (Fig. 2). In the middle of the plough-land, there was the Lake Békás (Fig. 6. 1-2), which has been dried up gradually during the last 50 years. More and more parts of the lake has been ploughed up. The spiral could get on the surface during the ploughing by the tractor and maybe it was thrown away to the edge of the field. We carried out an authenticating excavation from 30 t h of September to 5 t h of May in 2002. We opened altogether 203 m long test trenches by machine and manual force. The test trenches were empty, and there were not any marks of archaeological objects or charcoal. DESCRIPTION OF THE FIND The bronze spiral was made of an octagonal bronze rod, which was 4 cm thick. Both ends of it are rounded from left to right and form a loop in the middle (Fig. 3). The loop is 8,5 cm in inner diameter, the whole length of the find is 43 cm. One of the spirals is 12 cm, while the other one is 14 cm in diameter. The outspread length of the find is 197 cm, and its weight is 12 kg. The spirals end in small cones in the middle of one side. On the other side, the inner arch of the spiral is flat. Probably, it was
