one became extinct, too. But the last member of that branch, Erzsébet Mária (1727-1809) became the wife ofAmand (1715-1770), who originated from the Moravian branch and who was her third cousin. Their great-grandson László (1815 1893), who settled down in Putnok, the centre of the estate Putnok, is considered as the founder of the new Hungarian branch. We can follow the life of his descendants in the course of the 20th century. László had six children: three sons and three daughters. The estate Putnok was inherited by his youngest son Béla. Hereby, he became the continuer of the Putnok branch. His descendants still live in Gennany today. István, Béla's younger brother, became the inheritor of the Dédes and Sajószöged estate. This branch is now only represented by the distaff side, partly in Hungary and partly in different parts of the world (Italy, Australia, America and New Zealand). Béla's elder brother, Nepomuk János, first managed the Bánát estates (Temes County), which represent the heritage of his wife, but later the family settled in Vácduka (Pest County). His three sons continued the name Serényi and the Vácduka branch. László, his eldest son, was the founder of the Girincs branch, of which only one member, the 90-year-old Marianna Géza Serényi née Fiáth, is still alive. She lives in Sióagárd, Hungary. The family of her younger brother János Nepomuki, the founder of the Bánréve branch, also stayed in Hungary, but in the male line this branch is dissolving, too. However, the branch of the Vácduka branch that emigrated to America is blooming, which is also shown on the genealogical table attached. Mónika Bodnár 324
