Janó Ákos: Sárospatak és vidéke helytörténeti, néprajzi irodalma. (Documentatio Borsodiensis 7. Herman Ottó Múzeum Miskolc, 1987)
SUMMARY
of the country, the vine growing areas of Hegyalja and the excellent properties of wines produced there rose trie attention and initiated research of the history of this region, that of the technical development of vine growing, home and foreign sales of Tokaj wines. The themes connected with vine growing and wine culture still makes the considerable parts of region history, scientific publications and popularizing works. In the regional research apart from the rich literature of vine growing Hegyalja, a much smaller space is given to the other two regions, i. e. mountain Zemplén and Bodrogköz. The latter owing to rather its natural and touristic aspects, the former due to its specific coloured folk-culture have attracted attention. Most of the historical works about the past of Sárospatak involve the school, the history of the College, students' life and the outstanding personalities of intellectual life. In addition, the castle, the art relics of the town, the protection of historic buildings, art and literature relics have a significant literature. Apart from these, the reserchers have paid less attention to the economic and social progress of the town, the structure and the changes in habitation, the peculiarities of country town life and its casual outward forms. Thus, our work studying the castle, the building history of the complete defence system built on the former inner town, the still undiscovered deteils of its economic and defence role, and also new aspects of the school history, tries to draw the researchers' attention to the above problems of the town's past. The local knowledge material as described in our bibliography, varies not only in content and thematics, but also differs in the scientific levels of the works, the aim of publications and the forms of their appearance and the place of issue. In addition to the scientific publications, there are a great number of data recorder, nonfiction and popularizing works, too. The primary object of the collected works made with the help of social collectors and local researchers is to publish new, still unknown material: the elaboration of which may have a future source value. The various newspaper reports related to the everyday political, economic, social events and the life of habitations, plants and institutions may as well be of sourcevalue. The reminding, news-reporting, actual newspaper articles connected with anniversaries may as well contain valuable local knowledge data.
