MUNICIPAL ARCHIVES - County Archives (Regional, general public archives) by Csaba Káli
committees (economical, financial, orphanage, insurrection and so on), those of the administration from the time of Joseph II (1780-1790) - ,which provided significant changes for a decade -, the primary and secondary deputylieutenant (who were elected by the noblemen of the county) and those of tax collectors, comptrollers, orphanage, chief medical officer, engineer, the tribunal and county attorney After the Revolution and War of Independence in 1848/49, after the following new-absolutism then the provisional arrangement (1861 - 1865) and after the transitory governing and judgement of the compromise of 1867 the system of county administration was formed in 1872 that survived until 1945 and until 1950 with some modifications. Quite a great quantity of fonds from this nearly seventy years long period survived. These are the documents of municipal board and its committees representing local selfgovernment (central, certifying board etc.), the deputy-lieutenant, county attorney, orphanage, chief medical officer, the county engineer, finance office, State Audit Office, the veterinary, social officer, fire-protection officer, those of municipal committee and district chief constable. As a collection the county and municipal by-laws, ordinances,standingorders of associations, forestry working plans, water management documents, register-books of public roads and the copies of registers issued between 1828 and 1895 etc. can be found. The files of towns and municipalities got into the Book donation from Károly Skublics archives very imperfectly, (The Archives of Zala County )
