records and programmes as an independent unity since the 29 th July 1956 and it also makes it available for programmers and inquirers. This musical division nowadays contains 190 000 tape recordings, 30 000 micro records, several thousand bakelité records, 42 000 CD records and several hundred thousands musical programmes. Its fellow workers keep in touch with other recording companies in order to increase the collection beside the musical recordings made by themselves. They value the musical collections offered to the Radio and they decide about their purchase. Notes Archives It was necessary to obtain the notes of the artists, bands taking part in musical programmes of the Radio already in the first decades of radio business. During the nearly eighty year long radio service the number of the collection has increased to 5000 pieces of classical music and plenty of saloon notes. The Archives is very proud of owning some unique pieces and rarities that include the manuscripts of some composers such as 'Fölszállott a páva' by Zoltán Kodály (in English approximately: The peacock has perched) The Archives of programme documentation Its task is to collect, arrange, classify the documents of the programme and all the relating written materials and also to support fellow workers and researchers. The documents, admissions for broadcasting, scripts, announcing texts, manuscripts, leaflets together with making programmes remaining from the very beginning are very important. With the help of them we are able to get more details about the age and about the programmes of the age. Central Material and Record Storage Its task is to make the material like tapes, audio and DAT cassettes, writeable CD-s accessible and to store, register and publish the ready and archived programmes and other sound records for the employees of the Radio Company and the people with special admission. It preserves the record of Lajos Kossuth's sound. Sound restoration studio Its task is to restore and save the sound documents of the collection technically. Wax cylinders, industrial hard (bakelité) records, X-ray records and even tapes from the 1950s and 1960s made at the very beginning are only enjoyable in our days after restoration. The Sound Restoration Complex ready by 1999 also takes part in saving other national and over border sound archives.
