62 Richard Marsina of secular office-holders that only the dignitaries of the country had their own notaries at that time. Several credible spots (Buda, Eger, Nyitra, Esztergom, Győr, Fehérvár), deve­loped their public notarial activities, others (Pozsony, Vác) extended their services, some of them (Jászó, Ság) only laid basis of such services, some others (Turóc) have sporiadic proofs or received ready-made charters (Garamszentbenedek). Many credible spots are character­ized by specific features. Diplomatic and palaeographic examination of documents dated from 1235—1260, formulated by Hungarian notaries, indicates that in this period, assuming the individual origin of charters — naturally, not always and not everywhere — obvious results can be achieved. Even the formation of granting charters has become known to us, which is useful both from the viewpoint of the authenticity of documents and has a greater significance of cultural history, as well. • • i •
