15 il No. 10. 25580/10. The Representative of the Hungarian Government in Paris, Mr. Praznovszky, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Teleki. With reference to the Note Verbale sent with instruction No. 32464/10, 1 the Conference of Ambassadors has informed me that it consents to the formation of a Commission of Waterways be­fore the time-limit fixed in the Peace Treaty, and is making a pro­posal to this effect to the countries interested. In the meantime the Conference considers it necessary that the temporary settle­ment of the matter of the Francis Joseph canal should be entrust­ed to a mixed commission to be sent out after direct agreement between the Hungarian and Yugoslav Governments. If this me­thod should not prove practicable, the International Danube Com­mission or its executive committees should be consulted. The Conference of Ambassadors stressed the necessity of opening negotiations at once. I would ask for your instructions as to what answer I should give. I will send a copy of the note with the next courier. 2 No. 11. 13/res. pol. Memorandum of the Secretary General of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kánya, concerning Italian mediation.
