Résumé The Internal and External Specialties of the Cypriote Natural Gas Exploration The geopolitical situation of the Eastern Mediterranean region has changed since the late 2000s. As the result of the "Arab Spring", most of the Muslim countries are suffering from deep political conflicts, while the financial crisis of Europe reduced its power in the region. The Cyprus and Arab-Israeli conflicts are still poisoning the regional bi- and multilateral relations, the Iranian nuclear development is worrying the international community; moreover, Russia is prepared to return to the Eastern Mediterranean, which makes the regional struggle of the USA even more complicated. In this situation, Cyprus is facing new challenges: it tries to solve its interior - political, ethnic, financial etc. - problems and attempts to deal with the issue of natural gas exploration of Eastern Mediterranean, which definitely changed the geopolitical shape of the region. This study tries to explain the role of the Cypriote gas resources in the region, and the way Cyprus attempts to take advantage of this great treasure. 2013. tél 171
