who have managed to acquire influence on the Turkish domestic politics. The paper argues that this background affected the Turkish foreign policy which always intended to assure peace in the region in order to decrease the possibility of a humanitarian catastrophe and mass immigration to Turkey. That is why Ankara has joined various organizations (e.g. Balkan Pacts, or SEECP) and deployed peacekeeping forces to NATO and EU missions (e.g. SFOR, KAFOR, Althea etc.); this feature also shapes the AKP's foreign policy by adding it a highly palpable cultural and religious side.
