Garadnai Zoltán Résumé Prime Minister Jenő Fock',s Visit to France (25-30 March 1968) The year 1968 was the first time that the president of the Hungarian Council of Ministers, Jenő Fock had visited a NATO country, which marked a turning point in the history of Hungarian foreign policy after 1956. This visit completed the process of building relations between Hungary and France as well. As a consequence of the events in Czechoslovakia, the French policy of overture to the east practically ended in 1968, though it is important to underline that the analysis of the Central-Eastern European region as a whole and that of the individual countries, respectively, remained one of the targets of French diplomacy, and although France started to write her entirely "new history" in 1969 - as proved by the archived documents - France's eastern policy should by no means be considered with condescending simplification. 140 Külügyi Szemle
