Résumé András György Deák: The Private Life of a Monopólium The essay describes the unique features of the 'clan-capitalism' which has taken shape around President Putin through the example of Gazprom. It endeavors to present the interlocking relations between politics and business by tracing the changes in the management of Gazprom since the late Yeltsin period. It discusses the motives of foreign expansion, domestic investments, and the attitude showed towards the other Russian companies from the perspective of the management. The essay discusses frequently debated questions from this point of view, though from an absolutely new perspective in Hungary. The author hopes that this article contributes to the sophistication or, at times, the correction of the somewhat stereotypical ideas regarding the Russian energy sector in Hungary. 2007. tavasz 33
