Gabriella Lendday Jersey City (Liberty State Park), New Jersey - Sponsored again by the New Jersey Department of State, Office of Ethnic Affairs, and the New Jersey Ethnic Advisory Council in cooperation with the Division of Parks and Forestry of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection & Energy, the 13th Annual New Jersey Ethnic Festival was recently held at Liberty State Park in view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. More than 30 different ethnic communities participated in this two-day, official multi-ethnic celebration of the State of New Jersey, which attracted about 30,000 visitors and featured the Governor's Inter-Cultural Parade, a two-day, non-stop program of entertainment, numerous exhibits, a variety of arts and crafts displays, ethnic cookery, "Kids in the Kitchen Melting Pot Recipe Contest", the swearing in of new citizens, the arrival of the replica of Henry Hudson's "Half Moon", and much more. Thanks to the concern, cooperation, and participation of the Hungarian American Athletic Club and the Hungarian Scouts of New Brunswick; the Hungarian-American Citizens Club of Woodbridge; the American- Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway; and the Hungarian Heritage Review, the Hungarian community of New Jersey was well represented in the Governor's Inter-Cultural Parade, among the many exhibits and displays, ethnic kitchens, and by Gabriella Lendvay, whose vocal performance was loudly applauded by an appreciative audience. By their presence at the festival, the small group of participants conveyed the gratitude of the entire Hungarian community of the State of New Jersey for having been honored at the 1990 festival.-continued next page SEPTEMBER 1991 HUNGARIAN HERITAGE REVIEW 9
