Husband or Wife 2. Father and/or Mother 1. & 2. above are called Immediate Relatives, and are not subject to Visa Quotas 3. Unmarried Children 4. Married Children 5. Brothers or Sisters (at this time, this takes an 8 year wait) A U.S. GREEN CARD PERSON CAN SPONSOR; 6. Husband or Wife 7. Unmarried Children regardless of age See 3., 4., & 7. above - A Natural Father can sponsor - even though his name does not appear on the Birth Certificate. A step-mother or stepfather (Citizen or Green Card holder) can sponsor - under certain circumstances. GREEN CARDS THROUGH EMPLOYMENT: AN EMPLOYER CAN SPONSOR:-----------------------------------------------------------p-------------------------8. Professionals, ie: engineers, architects, scientists, etc., etc. They must have the equivalent of a 4 year, U.S., College Degree 9. Skilled and Unskilled Workers in short supply (Jobs for which legal people are not readily available) As of October 1991, the Law will favor skilled people as against unskilled people. TEMPORARY WORK PERMIT H - 1 VISA : The only people who are eligible for Temporary Work Permits are those who have the equivalent of a 4 year, U.S., College Degree - and in addition, must have an employer who is willing to sponsor for a job that is related to the college degree.
