SZ. eredményre jutott Alcock is (1989) a Paltothemis lineatipes szitakötőfaj esetében, amelynek hímjei úgy reagálnak az egyedsűrűség növekedésére, hogy kisebb territóriumokat védelmeznek, és többet harcolnak a fajtárs és a nem fajtárs hímekkel. Érdekes módon mi nem figyeltünk meg különbséget a hímek által védelmezett territóriumok méretében sem kisebb, sem nagyobb egyedszám esetén. Ezt az 5 méterenként elhelyezett jelzőkarók segítségével pontosan nyomon tudtuk követni. Eredményeinket összefoglalva elmondhatjuk, hogy a Libellula fúlva általunk vizsgált populációjában a populáció mérete számottevő hatással volt a hímek viselkedésére. A vizsgálat folytatásaként egy négy évvel korábban tanulmányozott populáció adatait is kiértékeljük, hogy a megfigyelt jelenség nagyobb léptékben való tesztelhetősége is megvalósuljon. Budapest Abstract: We studied a closed Libellula fulva (MÜLLER, 1764) population in 2006 along a small creek (Kis-Körös near settlement Bojt). We used the mark-recapture method to estimate the size of this population, and to study the behaviour of males. During the field work there were marked 377 males. To estimate the population size we used two indexes: the Lincoln index, and the Bailey index. Our results suggest that the highest number of the population was around two thousands animals, and this number decreases gradually and strongly because of a long rainy and cold period. The competition among males was higher at a higher population size, which suggests that they react with the increase of aggressiveness on the increase of male density.
