202 HIDROLÓGIAI KÖZLÖNY 1994. 74. ÉVF. 2. SZÁM Abstract: Keywords: VARSÁNYI ZOLTÁNNE TÓTH IRÉN, Groundwater in the southern part of the Great Hungárián Plain. Origin, Chemical evolution and Water movement Varsányi Z-né, Ms. In the souther Great Plain there are three hydrogeological units with different water chemistry. Geochemical models to establish processes controlling the chemical features of the different aquifers were developed from the observed chemical oomposition of groundwater samples and hidrological features of the study area. Concentrations of Ca and Mg were controlled by reversible dissolution of calcite and dolomité and by ion exchange on clay minerals. Na concentration is governed by irreversible albite weathering and ion exchange as well. Decomposition of organic matter yields CO2 for the dissolution of minerals. In the Körös basin and in the alluvial fan of the River Maros groundwaters are very old, probably they are the originál pore water. The sediments of the River Danube the originál fresh water was flushed by the present fresh water, this process must be induced by paleoclimatic events. geochemical modeling, groundwater, alluvial deposits. a földtudomány kandidátusa. Szakmai működésének leírását a Hidrológiai Közlöny 1989. évi 5. számának 263. oldalán közöltük.
