The Village Museum of Jósvafő was founded in 1994 by the Szinlő Cave Tourism Ltd., the villagers, the Aggtelek National Park Directorate, and the National Board for the Protection of Historic Monuments. This collection of buildings was built in 1890 in a traditional fashion with one row of rooms, gable roof and gable, and a porch with wooden columns. It houses exhibitions on local history and on nearby caves and their exploration. Its outhouses are typical to this region too: next to the entrance there is a cellar with a hay room on the upper level. There is also a separate kitchen house (so-called “summer" kitchen), a stable, a barn, a cart-house, a pigsty, and pens. The objects and utensils of local industry, agriculture, and forestry are on display in the reconstructed stable. The workshops of a blacksmith, and of a shoemaker are also located here. A chamber theatre was built in the barn. It can hold 50 people, and houses folk programmes, lectures on local history, and slide shows. The Village Museum is open all year round. In high season (15,h April - 15* October): between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. In low season advanced booking at the Baida Hostel is necessary. 1 Rákóczi St., jósvafő, Tel.: 48/350-084.
