The independent groups which are nőt willing to celebrate March 15th with of— ficial organisations have drafted their demands in 12 clauses. They believe that they are crucial to the realisation of deraocratic renewal. The 12 clauses, which were nőt published by the Hungárián mass média, are as follows: '//hat Does the Hungárián Nation Want? A free, independent, democratic Hungary. 1. A reál parliamentary and multi-party system. The assurance of free and honest elections. 2. A Constitutional State to replace the Police State. The operation of humán rights and the independence of the judiciary 3. Freedom of speech, press, conscience and education. The elimination of the State*s monopoly of Communications, 4. The right to strike. No restrictions of the freedom to safeguard interests, make demands or unité. 5. Fair proportionate sharing of taxation and social control of public expenditure. Individual and group privileges must cease. Humáné living standards must be set. 6. A rational economy, an active markét and the equality of forms of ownership. An end to huge investments which consume Capital and destroy the environment, to the support of deficit companies and to the ex- tortion of enterprises and the population. 7. A reduction in bureaucracy and the means of oppression. Disraissal of the Workers Militia and the Youth Guard. 8. Freedom and sovereignty to the nations of East and Central Europe. An end to military, economic and humán rights divisions in Europe. 9. A neutral, independent Hungary. The withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary. 10. A responsible minority and refugee policy. The govemment must defend the Hungárián minority at intemational forums. The illegal discrimination against Románián refugees must stop. 11. National dignity. History must no longer be falsified. The nation must be given back its arms. 12. The truth about 1956, the martyrs of the revolution must be honoured. October 23rd must become an official national holiday.
