Moscow's Pravda criticised the leaders of the mass movements in Hungary, calling them hot headed and condemning the announcement of a mass meeting at the end of the weekend on on Red Square by the Moscow Independent Socialists. This is a protest against the massing of Russiah troops at the Hungárián bordér. The American fresident Bush wamed of the undesirable consequences of such an explosion. NATO ministers, referring to the Hungárián situation and to the increasingly radical mass movements, spoke about the danger of a critical international imbalance of power. In Poland the New Solid- arity Party which is nőt officially acknowledged assured Hungárián workers of their support, the Freedom and Peace organisation have organised démonstrations in several cities and Lech Walesa has said that he wants to visit Hungary this week and then other East-Central European countries. In East Germany and Czechoslovakia the police brutally dispersed demonstrators supporting Hungarians and arrested several hundred people. There has been no news of the 200 Hungarians and Romanians who were arrested by the Securitate in Románia during the demonstrations of the last few weeks. József Újlaki, who is to be the president of the Workers Revolutionary Alliance, made a speech today at 5 pm in Újpest in the Megyeri Street sports stádium. He quoted the now well known worker leaders* words: "Citizens fór one year since the drastic in- flation of January 1989 we have nőt gone on strike. We wanted to give the government a chance to pursue an honest policy which serves the interests of the people, the authorities, despite individual changes, did nőt take this opportunity. They under- estimated and despised us by passing a strike law and ammassing police, against us. Now the Hungárián workers have got bored with negotiations which are conducted over their heads, of the jostling fór power by politicians of different parties, of under- hand dealings, compromises, the deluge of patriotic phrases and reform slogans. The worker has pút down his/her tools and has gone onto the streest, nőt to cause chaos or to harm the country bút to demand humán dignity and become a respected member of the nation. We demand rights, culture ajid the just division of matériái goods. We want to take control of our own fate. We want a peaceful solation bút we will answer violence with violence. When the Hungárián worker returns to the factories their Creative energies which have been suppressed fór decades will make miracles, bút only if their demands are met and if the objective of the 1956 workers revolution really comes true; the complete freedom and independence of Hungary" - finished Újlaki*s speech which was applaudeét by 80 000 people, the Újpest meeting has nőt finished yet bút it is surrounded by police. 2.
