There uas a debate on the question of party organisation and preparations fór pariiamentai*y elections and they elected the leaders of the Political Committee, the Executive Committee and régiónál leaders. The Small Holders Party’s 14- member Political Committee vili be: Tivadar Pártay, the party’s President; Dezső Futó General Secretary; László Kovács, János Janzsó, Dr Béla Mizsei, József Jónás and Pál Zeöke Vice-President; Dr Géza Iván and Pál Dragon deputy General Secretaries; Vilmos Bereczki and Dr Károly Ravasz press secretar­ies; _Dr Imre Boros; Dr István Böröcz, the Southern Dunántúl régiónál party leader; and Iván Bába, the leader of the parliamentary candidates committee rooms. The leadership meeting adopted a statement in vhich (in accordance with the party’ s already published guiding principles) it supports proposals to constitutionally reinstate tije historical Hungárián coat of arms and the national emblem. It alsó welcomed the meeting on this subject to be held on January 23rd by the Eötvös Lóránd University’s "Historical auxiliary Science1' faculty and the Hungárián Heraldic and Genealogical Society. The Small Holders Party authorised the Pol­itical Committee to fonnulate the party*s response to the New March Front’s in- vitation: to take part in a National Committee. Several altemative groupings have already disclosed their ansvers to the New March Front*s invitation. The Scientific Workers Democratic Union welcomes and promises to support the initiative, on the condition that the leaders of the National Committee have no privileges and that it genuinely wishes to create a parliamentary constitutional state. The Young Democrats Alliance rejected the proposal stressing that they are nőt convinced by the offer of a coalition vhile their local organisers are still sub'jected to house searches. The Independent Lavyers Fórum alsó refused to jóin it as they say that on the basis of the new -r electoral law only democratic elections can establish a constitutional assembly yi which will ensure the transistion to a constitutional state. Speaking on Behalf of the Hungárián Democratic Fórum Zoltán Bíró said that they lack the conditions to create a coalition and in the meantime discussions must take piacé: the Hungárián Socialist Workers Party must clarify which of its two faces is the reál one: an honest ambition fór democratic transformation or the wish to cling to the monopoly of power. Zoltán Bíró’s declaration was voiced in the meeting bet- ween the Hungárián Socialist Workers Party and the Hungárián Democratic Fórum on January 20th.
