Police Seize Independent Publications. During his visit to Budapest Dávid Mellor the British Under Secretary fór Foreign Affairs held discussions today - June 21st - with representatives from the different groups of the Democratic Opposition Movement. Among those invited to afternoon tea were Miklós Haraszti a writer, the philosopher Gáspár Miklós Tamás, the economist Marton Tardos and Judit Vásárhelyi a librarian. Leonard Appleyard the Ambassador to Budapest alsó took part in the discussions. The English politician was primarily interested in his guests’ views on the Hungárián political situation, the new leadership and the outlook fór relations between East and West. Gáspár Miklós Tamás added that the new leadership would presumably take a different course. Dávid Mellor said that he had raised the question of police violence as witnessed on the anniversary of Imre Nagy’s execution with János Berecz, he replied that they alsó regretted the events bút the protesters had - so he said ­attacked the police3 Originally a fifth guest was alsó invited bút he was unable to appear.
